Beginning in the seventeenth century, philosophers confronted profound questions about knowledge, science, religion, and human freedom. How can we know what is real? Can our senses be trusted? What is the relationship between mind and body? In this fully online Fast Track 2 course, students explore the ideas of Descartes, Leibniz, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, and Kant as they wrestle with these questions and lay the foundations of modern thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The debates of the modern philosophers continue to influence how we think about evidence, skepticism, personal identity, causation, and the nature of reality. By engaging directly with classic texts, students will gain a deeper understanding of both the history of ideas and the assumptions that often shape their own thinking.
