Michael is a founding artist of the theatre collective Public Moves Ensemble Theatre. Public Moves is an umbrella for theatre-makers who are dedicated to engaging the public on topics that are often left unexamined in our culture. We cultivate ensemble and physical approaches to theatre-making that challenge the dominant modes and motives of American theatre production. We will also use alternative techniques such as The Theatre of the Oppressed as we create and produce a range of performances, workshops, readings and events to stimulate thoughtful civic dialogue on matters that examine the public good. www.publicmoves.org |
In 2011 Michael initiated The PerformingHeARTs Project. The Performing Hearts project at Palomar College fosters community dialogue through live events that open people”s hearts, eyes and minds. Pablo Picasso famously described art as, “A lie that reveals the truth.” We offer performances and public gatherings that provide an occasion to analyze aspects of our society and the human condition from the multiple perspectives provided by differing academic disciplines. This Blog site is the hub that will connect all the conversations and collect the documentation. www.performinghearts.org |
The Image of The Crisis. Michael has been actively pursuing the use of theatre in connection with the Occupy movement and it’s aftermath. In 2011 he worked with the Occupy San Diego Education Committe to lead teach-ins using the Theatre of the Oppressed technique of Image Theatre to examine peoples perceptions of the causes and potential solutions for the crisis. The documentation of these explorations are located at the PerformingHeARTs website under the category Image of the Crisis. |
Micheal,
I am updating and enhancing my LinkedIn profile and would like to include my involvement in Theater of the Oppressed, American Dream 2.0 and Esperanza Rising. Will you send me any links, information, etc I can use? I’d appreciate it, and appreciate you for including me in these theater projects. You certainly have played a role in the experiences I’ve grown to cherrish. Thank you…
