{"id":100,"date":"2013-09-11T21:46:43","date_gmt":"2013-09-12T04:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pages.palomar.edu\/lmaunu\/?page_id=100"},"modified":"2014-09-09T07:33:01","modified_gmt":"2014-09-09T14:33:01","slug":"english-260","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pages.palomar.edu\/lmaunu\/my-classes\/english-260\/","title":{"rendered":"English 260"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">English 260: Literature through Film<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>In this class, we&#8217;ll explore the myriad ways in which literary texts (specifically, the three major genres of the short story, drama, and novel) have been adapted into film.\u00a0 We will study the conventions and characteristics of each type of literature, and analyze how these conventions get played out when the work of literature is translated into its filmic version.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to realize that this won\u2019t just be a course where we discuss \u201cwhich we liked better \u2013 the film or the book\u201d; instead, we will analyze both versions of each story in order to understand better how we as readers\/viewers arrive at an interpretation of each kind of text.<\/p>\n<p>Our course is also organized around some major themes in literary and film studies.
