Critique this!

Here’s an image created by a student in one of my classes. It an image that was created some time ago to avoid any distractions (That’s mine! Wow, I really don’t have a clue!).

What I’d like you to do is critique it. Evaluate the model, the color, the composition, the lighting, the general concept–pretty much everything you see. Write it down, spell check it, read it and make sure it makes sense, then send it to me via email. I’ll give you a tiny chunk of extra credit for doing it. But primarily it will really help you to look at your own work critically. Because someday the image might be yours…

This is a sample. Don’t critique this yet…

Strange contrail…

Lots of texture, lots of layers, lots of blend modes. It has a strange, tilt-shift feel to it, but there’s no tilt-shift involved.

The result is something that people who look at it will probably declare “Crummy Instagram from 4 years ago”, but I’m happy.

This is an interesting process

Who does blogs anymore?

Ugh. I’m no blogger. I never thought it would happen.

Okay, here’s the story. I need someplace to clue my classes in on what I think is good, bad, and interesting with design, animation, and all the strange stuff that I teach. I’m planning on this being that place. Or maybe it will just be a self-serving pile of junk that I accumulate over the days that I have left. And if that’s the case, that’s going to have to be good enough. So bear with me, whoever you are, as I navigate through the learning curve that is wordpress.
