Crochet is the art of creating fabric from yarn or thread using a crochet hook. The yarn stays in one continuous piece and through a process of stitching with loops and pull loops through more loops an item is created. There are many stitch patterns you can learn, however all are based on the chain stitch and single crochet.
Many of the people I meet ask me to help them to learn to crochet. So in response to that I would like to say, before you receive a tutorial from anyone, please take the time to gather a few supplies (hook & yarn) and practice these lessons that are free on the internet: Learn to Crochet
The items that I have created range from useful to decorative. The majority of my creations are displayed up on a website called Ravelry. My name of that site is KeaveKrochet.

The nicest part about crocheting for me is that it is therapeutic and allows me to go to a place that is creative, thoughtful and relaxing.
This is a photo of an afghan I am in process of completing. The pattern is called Jacobs Ladder Ripple and is fun and not too complicated.
Making baby items, scarves and washcloths are also fun and make nice gifts for people.
