The Telescope newspaper is student-run and independent from Palomar College. Students have been reporting and writing about Palomar College since 1948, a year after the college opened. The Telescope stopped printing during the 2020 pandemic and choose to stay online only to focus on technological advances in journalism. Now, we have a robust news website, which won Best of Show in the San Diego County fair in 2024. The Telescope can also be found on Instagram the_telescope and Tiktok thetelescopepalomar.
The Journalism Department is in the 15th year of printing a yearly or twice yearly campus magazine called Impact. This 64-paged news magazine is generated completely by students. From the story ideas, to the writing photography and design, students are in charge. It has won multiple awards for its content. You can find all of the issues available on Issuu.
