Thank you for your interest in this face-to-face course. Below is general information about the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Catalog Description<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a survey course designed to introduce students to the concepts and principles of genetics and inheritance, evolutionary theory, primate characteristics and behavior, the evolution of primates (mainly humans) through the fossil record, and human diversity and adaptability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pages.palomar.edu\/amobilia\/biological-anthropology\/\">Catalog and SLO information<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>This course satisfies Area 5B \u2013 Biological Sciences for IGETC CSU\/UC. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students should be aware that a free field trip to the San Diego Zoo to observe non-human primates may be required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Text Requirements<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p> I will be using the <strong>free online textbook<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/pressbooks.calstate.edu\/explorationsbioanth2\/\"><em>Explorations: An Open Invitation to Biological Anthropology<\/em>, 2nd edition.<\/a> It is available to view and download at <a href=\"https:\/\/pressbooks.calstate.edu\/explorationsbioanth2\/\">https:\/\/pressbooks.calstate.edu\/explorationsbioanth2\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Class Meetings<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We will be meeting in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/about\/san-marcos-campus\/\">MD building<\/a>, room 124 (first floor).&nbsp; Section #70284 meets Tuesday\/Thursday 9:35 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and section #70285 meets Tuesday\/Thursday 11:10 a.m. to 12:35 p.m.&nbsp; The first day of class is Tuesday, August 26, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Adding\/Crashing the Course<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are on a waitlist and\/or would like to add the class, please send me an email by Monday, August 25 or come to class on Tuesday, August 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for taking the time to review the information.
