Thank you for your interest in this face-to-face course. Below is general information about the course.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h2><strong>Catalog Description<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is a survey course designed to introduce students to the concepts and principles of genetics and inheritance, evolutionary theory, primate characteristics and behavior, the evolution of primates (mainly human) through the fossil record, and human diversity and adaptability.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pages.palomar.edu\/amobilia\/biological-anthropology\/\">Catalog and SLO information<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<em>This course satisfies Area 5B \u2013 Biological Sciences for IGETC CSU\/UC. <\/em>\u00a0Students should be aware that a free field trip to the San Diego Zoo to observe non-human primates may occur.\u00a0 An alternate activity will be provided for those who cannot go to the zoo.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Text Requirements<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There is one<strong> free<\/strong> required text:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explorations: An Open Invitation to Biological Anthropology. Here is the free online textbook: <a href=\"https:\/\/pressbooks-dev.oer.hawaii.edu\/explorationsbioanth\/)\">https:\/\/pressbooks-dev.oer.hawaii.edu\/explorationsbioanth\/<\/a>\n<p>or you can purchase a hard\/printed copy at the Palomar bookstore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Class meetings<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We will be meeting in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/about\/san-marcos-campus\/\">MD building<\/a>, room 124 (first floor).\u00a0 Section #70290 meets Tuesday\/Thursday 9:35 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and section #70291 meets Tuesday\/Thursday 11:10 a.m. to 12:35 p.m.\u00a0 The first day of class is Tuesday, August 23.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Adding\/Crashing the Course<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you are on a waitlist and\/or would like to add the class, please send me an email by Monday, August 22 or come to class on Tuesday, August 23.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for taking the time to review the information.
